The guesthouse „Malerwinkel“ is situated in the romantic „Dom“ district of Lübeck.
The guesthouse „Malerwinkel“ is situated in the most beautiful part of Lübeck´s old town, the “Malerwinkel”.
You enter the romantic alleyway directly from the Obertrave. In the alleyway itself there are only 4 houses. Our house is right at the end of the alleyway, including a cozy area outside with tables and chairs. From the alleyway you have a view onto the Obertrave through a small passage.
In the past 35 years this alleyway house, which needed renovation, had been left empty and was then carefully refurbished and renovated by Detlef Nowatzki in cooperation with Lübeck´s monument preservation authority. As many historic original parts as possible have been refurbished and reused. The guesthouse is approximately 500m away from the town centre.
You can also reach Lübeck´s main landmark, the „Holstentor“, within only a few minutes by foot and it will come into view after just a few minutes walking along the Obertrave.
The holiday home itself has a spacious kitchen and hallway on the ground floor from where you pass into the separate dining room, which has a beautiful view over the Obertrave. The small and cozy living room has a double sofa bed, flatscreen TV and a DVD player. There is also a guest toilet on the ground floor.
From the dining room you can reach the second floor via an old historic staircase, which is where you reach a luxury bathroom with a big shower and bath tub, underfloor heating and a small walk-in cupboard too and of course a big boxspring bed. If needed, there is an extra sleeping area for 1 person in the attic.
From this holiday home it will only take you a short time to get to the Baltic sea beaches in Timmendorf, Travemünde and Scharbeutz. The natural beaches in Mecklenburg Vorpommern are also only a 30-minute drive away.
The public transport infrastructure of the city is fantastic – trains from Lübeck to Hamburg run every hour and in just 45 minutes you can go shopping in the centre of Hamburg or enjoy the sights there.
It would be our pleasure to provide you with a list of recommendations of any kind for Lübeck. On request we can send these to you by email in advance. Included in this list is, for instance, the famous Buddenbrockhaus, the Thomas-Mann-House, great restaurants and bars and lots more.
All in all we can say, that Lübeck´s historic old town, especially the district „Malerwinkel“ at the Obertrave is a highlight and should not be missed on your visit to Lübeck. Our holiday home is in the most beautiful part of Lübeck, used by artists over many generations.
